About Kyra
W
ith Birmingham set to be the first city with an ethnic majority by 2020, the future of West Midlands’ inner city areas – such as Aston and Lozells, that are blighted by a history of violence and inter-ethnic conflict – rests with tomorrow’s leaders.

Empowering ‘home-grown’ community leadership in areas of deprivation – while nurturing talent within businesses and the public sector – is key to the region’s future.

KYRA's founders, who have amassed wide-ranging expertise in community and ethnic regeneration projects across the West Midlands over many years – realized that there was a lack of strong leaders to tackle social and economic deprivation.

To address the challenge KYRA devised the powerful Foundation Degree Programme, which is approved by Coventry University and uniquely brings together businesses, public and voluntary sectors to train and inspire students from all walks of life to become leaders.

Focused on delivering vocational, business and enterprise – focused training, KYRA has teamed up with leading businesses from across the West Midlands to provide mentoring to students. Drawing on the wealth of their experience, they offer one-to-one and group support over the course of the programme.

For more information on the mentors, or to find out how you can use your business experience to accelerate students’ learning, then please go to the Business Mentors' page.

KYRA's Enterprising Communities Programme is accredited by the National Open College Network. It has been devised in order to provide an opportunity to develop skills at other levels to take forward social enterprise and faith community projects. It also provides a natural progression (skills ladder) to the Foundation Degree.
